If you're in the charming town of Newburgh, NY, Betty's Snack Bar is a delightful gastronomic gem you'll want to have on your radar. Tucked away at 97 Liberty St, this vibrant cafe offers a cozy yet lively atmosphere perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch outing. The walk-up counter invites you to order your meal and explore the cafe's colorful, eclectic interiors adorned with charming decor that sets the stage for a delightful dining experience.

Betty’s Snack Bar is a true culinary treasure, serving up a menu that strikes a balance between comfort food and innovative creations. On a recent visit, I was lured in by the enticing aroma of their homemade offerings. The Grilled Burger (US$14.00) is a standout, featuring perfectly grilled beef, while the Fried Chicken Sandwich (US$15.00) begs to be savored with its crispy exterior and juicy interior. For those seeking something lighter, the Autumn Salad (US$14.00) bursts with fresh flavors that pay homage to the season, and the Betty's Falafel (US$12.00) brims with herbs and spices—a must-try for any fan of Middle Eastern cuisine.

Pair any of these dishes with one of their sides like the Beer Battered Onion Rings (US$7.00) or Homemade French Fries for a truly indulgent experience. And don’t overlook their Soup of the Day (US$8.00)—always a delightful surprise that customers rave about, like the refreshing and vibrant gazpacho enjoyed by many.

Customers adore Betty’s for its welcoming atmosphere and the sense of community it fosters. Gina Marie Miele describes it as a “nice little cafe with great coffee,” noting the diverse selection for both breakfast and lunch. This reflects what many find here: a casual spot perfect for both a quick bite or a leisurely meal in a warm, friendly ambiance. If you’re lucky enough to snag a table by the large windows, you can enjoy views of the historic surroundings, including the famed George Washington House right across the street.

Betty's Snack Bar also offers an array of delicious baked goods and a curated selection of local products, appealing not only to hungry patrons but also those in search of gifts or a sweet treat for later. Jessica Ciancanelli highlights how this cafe has become a “local go-to," emphasizing the consistent service excellence that keeps customers returning for more.

Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee or settling in for a hearty meal, Betty's Snack Bar welcomes with open arms and hearty flavors. The friendly staff, including the beloved duo, Will and Skip, add to the charm, ensuring that every visit feels like coming home. With delicious food, great service, and friendly vibes, Betty's is more than just a cafe; it's a cherished part of the Newburgh community.

Nice little cafe with great coffee, walk up counter ordering then you sit. Chalkboard with a diverse selection of breakfast and lunch choices. My recent meals were grilled cheese with ham with a bowl of gazpacho for lunch, and at breakfast a wrap of egg, avocado and potato - both were excellent. There is limited seating with tiny tables. Betty's is also a bakery/store selling a curated selection of cold beverages and pantry staples.

Hands down our local go to. Whether it’s lunch at the snack bar or burgers and cocktails at the bar, we are never disappointed. Service is always spot on and Will and Skip behind the bar always make us feel at home. We are so lucky to have such an awesome spot within walking distance to home.

A very pleasant coffee shop large open window looking on to the George Washington house. Good selection of pastries and we had breakfast in this light and airy restaurant.
